Are your patterns digital or physical?
All of my patterns are digital, instant PDF downloads—nothing will be mailed to you.
Where can I access my purchased pattern?
After purchasing a pattern here on vanessasmithdesigns.com, you'll receive a download link via email. Please save the pattern to your computer or electronic device right away. Download links expire within 24 hours of initially opening the pattern files.
This website is currently unable to offer a library feature, and any patterns purchased here will not be available in your Ravelry, Etsy, or LoveCrafts library.
Can I buy your patterns anywhere else?
Yes! All of my self-published patterns can be purchased through Ravelry and local yarn shops participating in Ravelry’s in-store sales program. A limited selection is also available on Etsy, LoveCrafts, and Row House.
What skill level are your patterns written for?
I offer patterns for adventurous beginners to experienced knitters. I’m currently working on adding skill levels and technique details to each listing so you can choose with confidence.
Do your patterns include tutorial support?
Yes! Many of my patterns include step-by-step photo or video tutorials to help you through key techniques. You can also check out my YouTube channel for more knitting tips and tutorials—I love being able to support your progress every step of the way.
Do your patterns use US or metric terms?
My patterns use US knitting terms, but I always include metric equivalents (especially for measurements and needle sizes).
Are your patterns size-inclusive?
Absolutely. I’m committed to offering size-inclusive designs, and each pattern lists its full range of finished measurements and garment ease.
Please note: Some of my earlier designs were published with a more limited size range. These are on my list to regrade and expand as time allows—thank you so much for your patience and support as I continue this work.
Are your patterns professionally tech edited?
Yes! Every pattern is professionally tech edited to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Your knitting time is valuable, and I want you to feel confident and supported from cast on to bind off.
Do you use test knitters?
Yes! Every pattern is tested by a group of wonderful knitters before it's released. Their feedback helps ensure that the instructions are clear, the sizing is accurate, and the overall knitting experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. I'm incredibly grateful for their time, care, and insight.
Several of my pattern listings also include test knitter photo galleries or short testimonials, so you can see how the design looks on different bodies and hear what knitters had to say about their experience.
Can I sell finished items made from your patterns?
Yes, you’re welcome to sell finished handmade items made from my patterns in small quantities. I just ask that you credit Vanessa Smith Designs as the pattern designer. If you plan to sell regularly, please send me an email first—I’d love to hear what you’re making and answer any questions!
Do you offer refunds or exchanges on patterns?
Because patterns are digital downloads, I can’t offer refunds or exchanges, but I’m always happy to help if you run into a problem or need support.
Do you offer pattern support or answer knitting questions?
Yes! I’m always happy to clarify pattern instructions. Just send me an email.
Do you ever run sales or offer discounts?
Occasionally! Join my newsletter to be the first to hear about sales, new pattern launches, and test knitting opportunities.
Where else can I find you online?
