Xenia

Xenia
Xenia is a generously sized, crescent shaped shawl that can be worn casually or for evenings out on the town in your favorite little black dress. With its ability to be worn in many ways, this shawl is sure to become a favorite in your personal knitwear wardrobe or to make a great gift for a shawl‑loving friend.
The shawl’s body features a simple horizontal ridge detail to lend visual interest to an otherwise stockinette fabric. A beautifully scalloped knitted-on border adds an elegant finishing touch. Instructions are provided for making this shawl with one or two colors.
What other knitters have said
“This was an amazing knit. The yarn was perfect for this. It’s so soft and has a great drape and I just want to wear it forever and ever. Definitely in my top 10 of things I have ever made.”
“My second Xenia. I love it, and get compliments on it all the time.”
“Pattern is very well written. I usually find something left to the imagination, or something to alter or correct, but not with this one.”
“This shawl . . . ended up teaching me a couple of new things, and this may become a favorite piece. There is, to me at least, an interesting way to add the stripes. I like them on the back as much as on the front where they add a slight texture. The border was also a new to me technique, added with a DPN and knit along the length of the shawl. At first I rebelled against it, but then realized that it was, in fact, rather a cool way to finish the border and bind off all at once. This is a great pattern, and I am very happy with the way it turned out . . .”
“Pattern is easy to understand with charts & written instructions. Love the construction of this shawl. And, oh my goodness, it is gorgeous! [Vanessa’s] patterns are consistently well-written, easy to understand, and very pretty!”
